As per the legends, there are two stories connected to Badrinath. In the first story, the Vamana Purana highlights Nar and Narayana (the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu) as the two sages. They performed their penance at this pilgrimage site through which Bhakt Narada attained salvation. Meanwhile, the other folklore states that Lord Vishnu took a child avtaar near Neelkanth Parvat just to meditate in peace. Upon searching, he fell in awe with the Alkananda River. After his incarnation as a child, he started crying, and the echo of his crying reached Maa Paravti’s ears. It melted her heart, and she reached the place with her consort Lord Shiva to meet him.
